2 Tips to Keep In Mind for Travel Professionals

Although we live in a world where more and more are booking online the device they use to search for trips, their smartphone is still that...a phone.  It is vital to have an online presence as a Travel Professional, but it is also vital that they can contact you with a phone number.  Believe it or not people still like to talk to a human.  So how can you as a Travel Professional insure people can contact you?

Here are some ideas.

  • With smartphones we tend to look at them as our on the go computer.  We use it to look up information, give directions and look at our Social Media.  This is all useful and important, but we tend to neglect that its original function is a phone.  Be sure as a Travel Professional that you are including a phone number in your marketing strategy.  On your website be sure that you have in a clear and easy to find space a number where travelers can contact you in person to discuss questions or concerns that they may have. Be sure to put this number on every page of your site.  They may be in the area where they can do an online reservation and run into problems and need to call for help.  They will not want to have to go to your homepage and search for your number and lose all the information they have already entered.  If this happens, they may become irritated and you lose the sale.  Despite the fact that we live in a world with all things digital personal contact is still important and valued by many.   Especially do travelers want the peace of mind knowing they can contact someone if something goes astray on their trip.

  • Another useful tool that many find handy is a chat box.  This provides a way for people to ask quick questions when they do not have time to make a phone call.  On your website you can add a chat box that asks, “Have a question?”.  People may not be ready to talk to a person on the phone, so this provides a way for them to develop some rapport with your travel company before they make an in-person phone call.   If they can ask a few questions and get satisfying answers they are more likely to return to your site and then talk with you in person when they are ready to make a travel reservation.

It may seem at times that person phone calls are a thing of the past but not so.  Human voice and contact are still vital and can put travelers at ease.  The feeling that they have someone to turn to if they need to is reassuring especially now.  Need help with your website and media?  Check out our Social Media Packages here.
