(Writing sample) How to Take Great Vacation Pictures While in Florida

As an award winning Inn located in St. Augustine, Florida, we’re a hop, skip and jump from Florida’s most beautiful beaches which means that the Southern Oaks Inn greets visitors from all over the world. It never fails, the moment guests enter our front door it seems that they’re taking pictures. Some have high tech camera equipment while many simply use their cell phone cameras.

Either way, we’re all interested in capturing our adventures in a way that will live forever..via pictures. But what if you’re not a novice photographer and yet seek to look like one?

Here are a few ways to ensure that your vacation photos are the best they can be:

  1. Get to know your phone’s camera – Most mobile devices have cameras and while some are better than others, make sure you know what your camera is capable of. That way, you will be using all of the features to the best of your phones ability. For example, did you know that the Samsung S8, which is considered “old,” has a built-in zoom and red-eye corrector built in? Simply push a button.

  2. Download apps – All you have to do is look at Instagram and Flickr to see how many people use apps to make their vacation photos look like a professional photographer took them. You can easily download apps like Slow Shutter Cam. This app comes with three modes that allow you to capture pictures at night, motion and light like a pro. Another app to consider is 360 Panorama. When you’re standing on the beach in St. Augustine, you’ll certainly want to capture the beauty of the entire beach. That’s where this app comes in handy. It takes panoramas to the next level. It also has a setting that morphs your shot into a globe-like scene… where you’re at the center and your surroundings pop out around you.

Whether you’re a professional photographer or not, we’re sure that you’ll be taking pictures while on vacation in St. Augustine, Florida. Don’t forget to check out the “things to do” section on our website or ask our concierge for some great photo opportunities.
